Celtic Music Performance

Enjoy an evening of delightful music on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 6 p.m., in the meeting room of the Chipley Library. Matthew Gurnsey, The Kilted Man, will present a one- hour performance. Through the marriage of wit and finesse, Gurnsey charms his audiences, sweeping them into tales of wayward voyages, unrequited love, and the colorful lives of many Irish tales. His unique talents, with traditional Celtic instruments such as the concertina, bodhran, bones, and mandolin, add an air of authenticity to each piece. His rich and stirring bass voice provide the foundation for the haunting and beautiful melodies.

Teen Read Week is not just for teens!
It is just fine: you have permission. There are lots of books in the Young Adult section. But it is okay to read them even if you are no longer, by any stretch of the imagination, young.

In fact, you will find they often have active themes and complex characters that are equal of most of the books you will find on the "adult" fiction shelves these days.

So do not say sheepishly that it is for your kids. We have read them, and you can, too.

Story time on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

This is a free program for library patrons and their little ones. Letter learners is an inspired program where letters and their sounds, along with their vowels, are introduced.

Flannel Board interaction, the introduction of colors, crafts, and of course stories, are part of this weekly hour-long program, with some holiday celebrations tossed in, too.

2012 Summer Read Memories of DREAM BIG!

Before the Washington County Public Library Summer Reading program gets underway.. Some very special "friends" come in behind the scenes.  Samanatha Raney, has been a Teen volunteer for many years now, and helped set up the "It Pays to Read" store!
Cody Railsback, Raven Marks and Danielle Jones helped for weeks with all the crafts that had to be cut out, sorted for travel and just kept me together!
A BIG Thank You to special people!

The moon was out and aliens landed in our library!

The kids were focused on making lightening bugs.

Putting all the different craft 'pieces' in their tray, I love to listen to their 'guesses' as they try and figure out what we'll be making!
The kids took over and acted out the story, The Fisherman and his Wife".

We even got parents in on a puppet show! Look at the lion sleeping tonight.
The Three Little Pigs was re-told wth the blues

Here I am encouraging the rest of the crowd to sing along!

  Noah's Dream Journal

Kate M. Smith summer school comes over and we have a blast! Showing off a craft for the 4th of July.
